I'll Tell Ya What. The Sixers Could Really Use A Big Distraction In Philly Sports Right About Now

Obviously the Sixers have found themselves in a sticky situation. Everybody knows that. I’m sure ownership doesn’t necessarily want to fire Bryan Colangelo. If they did then he probably would have been shit canned by now, no? I’m sure if they had their perfect world, they wouldn’t be dealing with this situation at all. But sometimes the world isn’t perfect and now they’re in a position where quite literally nobody is saying that there’s any possible way you can keep this guy in Philadelphia. Regardless, the Philadelphia 76ers have a pretty big decision to make one way or the other, and it would definitely be advantageous to them for a large distraction to come up which would take the attention away from them and they could try to sneak the announcement in then.

Let’s just say, for instance, that the Eagles became a major national story in the month of June because of a feud with the President of the United States over visiting the White House. Not only would the Eagles be the biggest story in Philadelphia if that were to happen, but they’d probably be the biggest story in sports and possibly the country. How lucky could the Sixers possibly get for a distraction of that proportion to come out of nowhere right when they need it the most? You’d figure that if there were ever the perfect opportunity to announce their decision to either fire the guy or keep him around, that doing it while the Eagles are Public Enemy #1 to the White House would be the perfect time to do it.

But instead?

Not only did they not announce a decision at the perfect time to attempt to sweep some shit under the rug, but they didn’t even have a decision made in the first place. They still needed to have a multi-hour meeting with the guy to figure out what they’re going to do here despite literally everybody in the world saying that keeping him would be the biggest mistake ownership could possibly make. If anything, this has to be the most troubling part about this whole scenario. The burner accounts are one thing. Colangelo definitely talking shit on the players to his wife and her getting too trigger happy with her Twitter fingers is certainly another thing. But for Sixers ownership to miss the perfect opportunity to make any sort of announcement yesterday? And for them to still be grasping to find ways where Bryan Colangelo can come out of this clean and keep his job? Yikes. That is, how you say, actually bad.

The good news here is that at least this doesn’t continue to look worse and worse for the organization the longer it drags on. (Jordie’s Note: that’s a little comedic device called “satire” right there. The joke, of course, being that it actually does look worse and worse for the organization the longer it drags 0n)
